Strategies to get the perfect Nags Head vacation property experience:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Nags Head. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Start by having your family choose the best dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. OBX Dog-friendly \/ Oceanfront\/ Poolside Cottage 17 has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If not, email or call the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • If there's a particular Nags Head attraction you crave, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips to have a wonderful stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
