Nags Head vacation rental booking tips:
Getting the best rental value:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Nags Head. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Nags Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- To start, have your family decide on a vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. The Ripple Effect-Brand New & 360 Degree Views! has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
During your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the rental manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
