Nags Head vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

When to visit Nags Head & When to book:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking your Nags Head vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies supply Nags Head area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking the bestrental home:

  • Start by choosing your vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Nags Head, Ocean View, 3 min Walk to Beach, Hot Tub, Sunrise & Sunset Views has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
  • If there's a specific Nags Head attraction you are crazy about, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many concerns.
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • At Check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
