Vacation rental tips:

When to reserve a Nags Head rental & When to go:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Nags Head area. Booking your vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Choosing the perfect rental in the Nags Head area:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Semi-Ocean Front, Elevator, private pool, hot tub, Pets OK, great views, close walk to beach! has 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's an individual Nags Head attraction you simply love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Advice for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many difficulties.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
