Strategies for getting the best vacation rental experience:

When to book a Nags Head rental home & When to go:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Nags Head. To get the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning and picking yourvacation home:

  • Start by having your group agree to date ranges and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. K1200 Good Karma Retreat. Luxury; OCEANFRONT, Pool; Theater Room; Pets OK! has 8 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's a specific Nags Head destination you are enamored with, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
