Our top Nags Head vacation rental tips and tricks:

Get the best rental value:

  • Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

How to choose and book the best Nags Head rental home:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Private Pool, Hot Tub, Dog Friendly
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, call the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is best for your family.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or might be applied to your invoice.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
