Rental property booking tips and tricks:
When to visit & When to reserve a Nags Head rental home:
- To get the best value, change your family's Nags Head trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area travel guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Finding the perfect vacation home in the Nags Head area:
- Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Home Again: Oceanfront, Pool, Spa, Elevator has 8 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what is right for your group.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many difficulties.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
