Tips and Tricks to get the best Nags Head rental experience:

Sticking to your budget:

  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summertime is high season in the Nags Head area. Book your rental property in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.

Planning, selecting, and booking the best Nags Head vacation home:

  • Start by choosing a vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. K1104 Kookoolamonga! Ocean View, Pool\/Hot Tub, Elevator, Handicap Friendly! has 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or could be applied to your contract.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

More considerations:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
