Our top Nags Head vacation rental booking tips:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • Summer is high season in the Nags Head area. To get the best rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Nags Head attractions.
  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to choose the best rental home:

  • First, have your family select trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Pet-friendly oceanside home in Nags Head w\/ pool, hot tub, & rec room! has 8 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If they are not listed, call the host before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is optimal for your vacation.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or may be applied to your contract.

Tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the host immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
