How to get the best Nags Head vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Nags Head area. To find the best value, shift your family's Nags Head trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to pick the best rental in Nags Head:

  • Start by choosing trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Classic Nags Head Style Cottage has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. text the rental manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
