Our top Nags Head rental booking tips and tricks:

When to visit & When to reserve a Nags Head rental home:

  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Nags Head. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Nags Head trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitor guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • First, have your group choose date ranges and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Coastal Dune 3: Oceanfront Cottage on the Sand in Nags Head! has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your family.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a certain Nags Head destination you love, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
