Nags Head vacation rental tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Nags Head area. Reserve your vacation in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.

How to choose the perfect vacation rental in the Nags Head area:

  • Choose vacation week and budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Village of Nags Head - Pool - Friday to Friday only -\nReserve after Jan 1, 2025 has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
