Getting the best rental experience:

When to book a Nags Head rental & When to go:

  • Summer months are high season in the Nags Head area. To get the best vacation home within your budget, we suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Nags Head restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies supply Nags Head area visitor guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • To start, have your family select vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Cast~A~Waves: Oceanfront Terrace, Shared Pool has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before booking your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

More considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
