Strategies to get the perfect rental home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Nags Head area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Nags Head. To book the largest vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Nags Head area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning and picking a perfect Nags Head rental home:
- First, have your family commit to vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. 6165 Fantasy Land * 8 Min Walk to Beach has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
- If there's an individual Nags Head destination you are enamored with, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
