Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Nags Head rental home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Summer months are high season in the Nags Head area. Book your Nags Head rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Filter your search:

  • Begin by selecting your trip dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Well kept, comfortable, Ocean View, Steps to Beach, Sunrise & Sunset Views has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • If there's a specific Nags Head beach you simply love, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Additional considerations:

  • Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many problems.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
