Finding the best Nags Head rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summertime is high season in Nags Head. Book your rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitors guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the best vacation rental in the Nags Head area:
- Start by having your family choose vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Classic sound side Outer Banks beach house, near Jockey's Ridge State Park! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. If not, contact the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your agreement.
Advice for your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. message the rental manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many difficulties.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
