Strategies for getting the perfect Nags Head vacation property experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a Nags Head rental home:

  • Summer is high season in the Nags Head area. Booking your Nags Head vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your search:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Whalebone Oceanside 3 Bedroom Cottage F has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a particular Nags Head beach you long to visit, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or applied to your invoice.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the host's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
