Three Mermaids' Cottage is named for our daughters, and we are all about family! We are family owned and operated, a true mom and pop business. You will deal with us directly, not a realty company or property manager. We do our best to make sure everything is ideal for your stay. Our bungalow is clean, well equipped, and very nice. A true home away from home.
Please read our reviews and you will see many who really savor our little piece of heaven by the sea.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!
You can find us East side between the highways in Nags Head at MP 10.5.
This has us centrally located, close to the beach, eateries, stores, the YMCA, the new Dowdy Park, and a mile from the Nags Head Fishing Pier.
We are two short blocks away from the beach. It's a 3 min. walk with direct beach access at either end of the street.
We are a block from the grocery store as well, it doesn't get much better!

Summer season weeks run Saturday to Saturday. Sheets and towels are included complimentary of charge. You will find clean sheets along with 6 bath towel packages in the bedrooms.

We are always updating and upgrading. We have modern amenities but still retain the homey "bungalow by the sea" feel.

The kitchen is well equipped. It has plenty of dishes, glassware, pots and pans, and modest appliances. Dishwashing liquid, dishwashing pods, hand soap, trash bags, & coffee filters are outfitted for you. The breakfast nook seats 6, and is the ideal place for comfortable family meals, game playing and appreciating time together.

The main living area is charmingly decorated, with new furnishings, and bespoke touches and artwork throughout. We have a new 55" intelligent TV. Those with a Netflix account can log in to watch your favorite shows.

Bedroom 1, first floor, Queen bed, TV and nice size closet. It connects to the first floor bathroom.
Bedroom 2, second floor, (bunk room) 2 singles, great for the kids, they adore the bunk beds, and will appreciate the TV and DVD player. The bunk room connects to a Jack and Jill bath.
Bedroom 3, second floor, Queen bed, has a TV & DVD player and a huge closet. There's also a sitting nook attached, ideal for curling up with a good book. This bedroom also connects to the Jack and Jill bath.
The loft area is added space for the kids to enjoy board games, or if you need a peaceful space to simply chill out, or work (if you must). We have complimentary wifi.

We have a mud room on the ground floor, with a full-sized washer and dryer. Also in the mud room, you'll find a closet with beach equipment for our guests. We have beach chairs, an umbrella, a cooler, body boards, corn hole, some sand toys and other fun games. Lastly there's a new wagon to haul it all to the beach.

Outside, you'll find two decks, one is covered and shady for calming after a day in the sun, or if you are a sun worshiper, the upper deck is complete with table and chairs for al fresco dining. Our back yard is roomy, flat, and fenced in for security and added privacy. It's ideal for cornhole, playing horseshoes, bocce ball or whatever outdoor games your family enjoys.

Lastly we have a keyless entry, nice outdoor shower, a swing, a new gas grille, and picnic table.

****Please make sure you read and understand all aspects of our rental agreement and home rules. Specifically, our occupancy limit and penalties for noncompliance, hurricane policy, and the "no animals allowed" rule. We are true animal lovers, but sadly we have family members that are highly allergic. There are many pet friendly homes along the Outer Banks. We would be more than happy to recommend some to you so you can bring your furry family member along without any worries.
Thanks for understanding. Any questions? Feel complimentary to ask! We are happy to help.

After being guests ourselves for many years, we strive to make this home our, and your home away from home. We have put a lot of thought and care into making it a nice, clean, organized, safe environment for everybody. After all, it's about family and friends, spending time together with the ones you appreciate, and making memories that last a lifetime!!

Getting the best Nags Head vacation property experience:

Get the most from your spending budget:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in Nags Head. To book the largest vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitor guides which will include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • To start, have your family commit to the best dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Three Mermaids Cottage, Nags Head, 2 blocks to the beach, read our reviews! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, call the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is optimal for your group.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
  • Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

More considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
