Tips and Tricks to get the best Nags Head vacation property experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • To find the best value, try changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Make a plan and pick the bestrental:

  • Begin by selecting trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. 4th of JULY WEEK 4 NIGHT STAY STARTING JUL 1ST has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Additional considerations:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many problems.
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • Upon arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
