Nags Head vacation rental booking tips:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Reserve your Nags Head vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a budget.

  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • If there's a certain Nags Head beach you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

During your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Contact the property manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
