Rental property booking tips and tricks:

When to book a Nags Head rental & When to go:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • To find the most suitable rental home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • First, have your group choose date ranges and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Just Wright: Heated Private Pool, Hot Tub and Elevator has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the property manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
