Strategies for getting the best Nags Head vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.

Finding the best rental home in Nags Head:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Pet-friendly semi-oceanfront home w\/ pool, hot tub, rec room & ocean views! has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If they are not listed, email the property owner before reserving the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's a particular Nags Head destination you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • During check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
