Getting the best Nags Head vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Nags Head area. To get the most suitable rental for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Nags Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have coupons for local tours and attractions.
How to pick the best vacation rental:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Wave Watcher - Amazing Ocean and Sound Views from multiple decks! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
More tips for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Call the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
