How to find the best Nags Head vacation home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Make a plan and pick the perfectrental:
- Select vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Sunswept: Oceanfront, Pool, Hot Tub, Dunetop Deck has 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Nags Head destination you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Upon check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
