Booking the best vacation rental experience:

Finding your best deal:

  • The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Nags Head area. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

How to select the perfect rental in the Nags Head area:

  • Start by choosing vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Queen Elizabeth 8 Bedroom Oceanfront Home has 8 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
  • If there's a specific Nags Head destination you long to visit, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

More considerations for your visit:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
