Strategies to get the best Nags Head vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Reserve your Nags Head rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.

Make a plan and choose your Nags Head rental home:

  • First, have your family commit to the best dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Queen Elizabeth 8 Bedroom Oceanfront Home has 8 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a specific Nags Head beach you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking

More tips for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
