Our top Rental home tips:

Finding the best value:

  • Summertime is high season in the Nags Head area. To find the best value, try changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Nags Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Make a plan and pick your prefect Nags Head rental home:

  • Select your vacation dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Friday - Friday, 8 Bedroom, 6 Bath Semi-Ocean Front, Across from Beach Access! has 8 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. message the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
