Tips for getting the perfect rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • To book the best vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Nags Head restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Nags Head area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to choose the perfect rental home in the Nags Head area:

  • Start by choosing a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Piggy's Paradise-Oceanside, community pool, private hot tub, short walk to the beach! has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you book the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your family is bringing pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Advice for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home.
