How to get the best Nags Head vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking your vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the best vacation rental in the Nags Head area:
- Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Pool with Water Slide has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rental home search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is best for your group.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges applied to your agreement.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
Know before you go:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
