Strategies for getting the perfect Nags Head rental home experience:

When to book a Nags Head rental home & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Nags Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Choose your dates and budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Soundside Serenity: Quiet Neighborhood
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. If not, email the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what is best for your vacation.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
