Stinson Ranch: Soundfront home in Nags Head with amazing water and sunset vistas and a great dock to kayak and paddleboard from!

Bed Sizes: 2 Queen, 1 Double, 2 Twin

Your stay at "Stinson Ranch" will be an memorable experience. This resurrected structure is a duplicate of the original Stinson's Ranch which was destroyed by Hurricane Irene. It rises out of the Roanoke Sound on pilings that give you a expansive 180-degree view of the water, sky, birds, boats, unbelievable sun and moon sets, and anything else that might venture by. The original structure was constructed in 1903 in the old Nags Head architectural style and the new "Ranch" has the same familiar feeling offering comfort and appeal.

This vacation hide-a-way is ideal for anyone looking for a unique and really appealing stay over the water. You need only to walk down a flight of stairs and you are there...ready to swim, float, boat, or just walk out to the sandbar. Fishing, crabbing, sunbathing, reading, journal writing, and star-gazing are all recommended activities on the sizable lower deck or the comfortable upper deck. Meals are taken while watching the sunset from an outside table seating 8.

Stinson Ranch has a shower platform below the bungalow and a long set of steps leading down to a platform over the water from which you can jump into a kayak or slip into the water (at this point the water is about 2 feet deep depending on the wind and waves). The "Ranch" is ideal for water lovers; it is conveniently reachable and kids can be monitored from the deck above. Hours upon hours can be spent just walking and playing in the water out in the sun or under the bungalow complimentary from the rays of the sun. You can walk multiple hundred yards into the sound and never get over your head....a sandbar rises a hundred yards out and provides a great place for water activities such as frisbee, volleyball, paddleball, or just sitting and appreciating the view. There is never a lack of things to do at the bungalow, and you never have to leave to have a great time. Even when the weather is not so friendly, this place has charm and comfort to offer. With a gas fireplace in the corner, you can be warm and still step out onto the deck for a brisk breeze on a still wintry day that warms the spirit.

Stinson Ranch is complete with all modern amenities and is indeed a "step back into history" with tons of the former bungalow honored in photos and objects. The downstairs is an open floor plan with a cozy sitting area and kitchen eating area combined. The kitchen is equipped with everything needed to prepare a sumptuous meal with a central table. A doorway leads to two bedrooms, one containing two single beds and another with a queen-size bed. A huge bathroom with a shower sits between the two. A set of stairs leads up to a enormous loft that contains one queen and one double bed. A modest half-bath occupies one corner. Five windows provide a majestic view of the water and Manteo in the distance. A deck is attached to the loft and is "the end of the world" as far as sitting, reading, watching the sunsets, and having a cup of coffee in the morning or your favorite drink in the evening.

Stinson Ranch is really a haven of rest and relaxation. It retains the charm and character which the Stinson family has brought to it since 1963. Nothing in your imagination can prepare you for a stay at this one-of-a-kind bungalow. ("Author: Bill S.")

Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Nags Head rental experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • To get the best value, change your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Stinson Ranch-Soundfront, amazing water and sunset views and dock over water! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property manager before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or could be applied to your agreement.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
