Getting the best Nags Head vacation rental experience:

Get the best rental home value:

  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Reserve your rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your search:

  • Begin by choosing vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Sound-view retreat with balcony, W\/D, & central AC - pool and boat ramp access has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. Otherwise, call the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Know before you go:

  • Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
