How to book the best Nags Head vacation home experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning and choosing the perfectvacation home:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Spectacular Top-Floor Oceanfront Condo! Directly On the Ocean! Book Now! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
