Strategies to get the perfect Nags Head rental home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Make a plan and choose the perfectrental home:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Sun on My Beach: Private pool, hot tub, rec room, media room & elevator! has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to stimulate new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
