Tips to get the best vacation home experience:
Finding the best value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Nags Head area. To book the best rental home within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Nags Head restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
How to select the best vacation rental in the Nags Head area:
- Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Charming home with ocean view & access to pool - close to beach & golf has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
More tips for your visit:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
