Getting the best vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in Nags Head. Book your rental in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting and booking a perfectvacation home:

  • Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. K1236 Looking Glass. Oceanfront, Nags Head, 5 BD, Pool, Hot Tub, Pets OK! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. If not, email the property manager before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your trip.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
