Tips and Tricks to get the very best Nags Head vacation rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Reserve your vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Make a plan and pick yourrental home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. At Ease: Ocean views, short walk to the beach, close to fishing pier. has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's a particular Nags Head beach you are enamored with, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Know before you go:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
