Tricks and tips for getting the best Nags Head rental experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Nags Head vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Nags Head area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by selecting trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Reminiscent: Oceanside, Private Pool, Spa has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's an individual Nags Head beach you crave, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
