Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Nags Head vacation property experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in the Nags Head area. To get the best value, try shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to choose and book the best Nags Head rental:
- Select your dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. K1148 NautiBuoy; LUXURY Oceanfront, Pool, Hot Tub, Pets OK, Elevator! has 8 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
More tips for your visit:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many difficulties.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
