Strategies for getting the perfect rental home experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Nags Head area. Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Nags Head area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing and booking the perfectvacation home:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Pirate's Booty: Private Pool
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your group.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the host's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
