Tricks and tips to get the perfect Nags Head vacation home experience:

When to visit Nags Head & When to reserve a Nags Head rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Nags Head. To book the largest rental within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Nags Head restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Choosing the perfect vacation home in the Nags Head area:

  • Select your vacation dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. 3-story home near beach with private outdoor pool, deck, balcony, patio & AC has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before booking the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips to have a wonderful stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
