Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Nags Head vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- In the Nags Head area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, picking, and booking the perfect Nags Head rental home:
- Start by selecting the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. SN8421- Oceanside, 3 BRs W\/2 Baths,Direct Beach Access, Wifi, & Pet Friendly! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available online. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your family.
- If there's a particular Nags Head destination you love, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- To make sure damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the host right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
