Tricks and tips to get the optimal Nags Head rental experience:

Find your perfect rental:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Nags Head. Book your Nags Head rental in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some property management companies offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by choosing your trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Gone Coastal: Private Pool, Hot Tub, Short Walk to the Atlantic Ocean has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Advice for a great stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
