Tips and Tricks to get the best rental experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Nags Head. Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing the best rental home in the Nags Head area:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Gorgeous old nags head oceanfront home with spacious decks and beautiful views! has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is right for your vacation family.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
