Vacation rental booking tips:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • To book the best vacation home within budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area travel guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose the perfect vacation rental in Nags Head:

  • Start by having your family agree to vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Hot Tub, Oceanside, Close to Ocean! NH301, Driftwood Dreaming has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a specific Nags Head attraction you simply love, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

Advice for your stay:

  • Add the host's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • During check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
