Tricks and tips to get the best vacation rental experience:

When to reserve a Nags Head rental & When to go:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in Nags Head. Reserve your Nags Head vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Welcome to MAJESTY! Ocean Views-Hot Tub-Pool Access has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If not, email or call the property owner before booking the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your contract.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

During your stay:

  • We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • During arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
