Vacation rental tips and tricks:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- In the Nags Head area, The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Nags Head. Booking your Nags Head vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning, picking, and booking a perfect Nags Head rental home:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Nags Head Place -- Pet Friendly in Nags Head with Pool and Hot Tub has 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
Advice for a great stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
