Nags Head vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

When to visit Nags Head & When to reserve a Nags Head rental home:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Nags Head area. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Nags Head trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Some hosts offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Nags Head beautiful villa\/home w\/private pool, hot tub, fireplace, ocean view has 4 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Call the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
