Rental home tips:

Cost saving strategies:

  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Booking your Nags Head vacation rental in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Nags Head area travel guides which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the perfect rental home:

  • Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Location! 3 bed\/2bath Five minute walk to beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas during arrival. Call the rental manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
