Take a step back in time and savor old Nags Head appeal at it's best. The bigger bungalow on the property, 'Surf Shack', has undergone a complete and total remodel. We just finished the kitchen this winter, brand new! It has all the modern amenities we require, plus the old school charm of 1950s Nags Head.

The Surf Shack Cottages are located on the Beach Road at MP 11, directly across from the Bainbridge Beach Access. We're just a few short steps to the beach and very close to the Nags Head Pier, eateries, shopping and Jockey's Ridge. The Nags Head Pier has live music numerous nights a week in the summer. Our favorite activity (other than sunbathing, of course) is to take some cold beverages down to the beach and listen to the tunes from the comfort of our own sandy spot.

Surf Shack has 3 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, Bright airy Living Room with vaulted ceiling, Kitchen and Dining/Sunroom. The biggest bedroom has a queen bed and the two smaller bedrooms have full size beds. The bungalow is equipped with a new flat screen TV, cable, high speed internet, AC, laundry and a gas grille. Savor coffee in the morning or a drink in the evening on one of the two front porches.

Sorry to the doggies, but Surf Shack Cottages does not allow family pets.

Come stay at Surf Shack Cottages, we know you'll appreciate it!

Getting the best Nags Head rental home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Make a plan and pick the perfectvacation home:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. The Surf Shack,Charming historic cottage, steps to the beach, Nags Head MP 11 has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's an individual Nags Head attraction you long to visit, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.

During your stay:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, note any problem areas during check in. Speak to the host right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
