Tips for getting the best Nags Head vacation home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Nags Head. Booking your vacation home in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitors guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. K0113 An American Dream. Oceanfront; Private Pool; Hot Tub; Pets OK! has 7 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your group.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Upon check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
