Tips and Tricks to get the very best Nags Head vacation home experience:

When to reserve a Nags Head rental home & When to go:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Reserve your vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to choose the perfect vacation home in Nags Head:

  • Select a group leader, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. K0113 An American Dream. Oceanfront; Private Pool; Hot Tub; Pets OK! has 7 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your group.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
